Description

Harvey Nash's client in Glasgow requires a Senior Communications Officer to join their team on an initial 6 month contract starting ASAP. This role will be joining an existing team based in the city centre, reporting to the Head of Communications. You will working high profile media and PR campaigns, providing support and guidance to other team members to create, develop and source stories, content and ideas from a variety of internal and external sources, stakeholders and partners.

Main Duties;

* Develop and deliver effective and engaging communications plans

* Work closely with senior colleagues to influence and coordinate the approach to public statements

* Deliver regular proactive media initiatives including media releases, interviews, comment pieces, and editorial to influence and shape the discussion

* To take ownership of creating exceptional communications through key media channels such as web site, ecomms, printed publications and social media.

* Develop and deliver internal communications campaigns working with a range of colleagues.

* Promote and protect the reputation of the organisation and its services through the media and manage PR and publicity campaigns, including chairing media briefs and handling press queries.

* Manage an annual media and public relations plan that identifies key stories and themes, including a media release schedule and identify key stakeholders and partners to work with during the year.

* Actively pursue new public relations opportunities on an on-going basis.

Essential Skills:

* Proven track record of leading and delivering external communications strategies, working at a senior level with a high level of autonomy and responsibility.

* Strong experience of working with complex groups of stakeholders and developing strategies that meet their requirements.

* Experience of the communications mix and in producing the highest standard of written copy, presentations and marketing materials.

* Considerable experience of media crisis management.

* Excellent planning and organising skills with the ability to work on simultaneous projects with conflicting deadlines.

* Significant experience of the education and public sector

* Proven ability of delivering exceptional campaigns
