Role descriptionAs an experienced UX designer you will be able to apply UX practices to design, deliver and maintain the best-in-class, highly engaging end-to-end user experience for omni-channel engagement projects that meet user needs and business objectives for our customers. You have proven experience of creating high quality User Experiences by giving ideas life in the form of sketches and high fidelity prototypes.
We want a creative and energetic individual who has a passion for user-centred design and a team player who enjoys working in collaboration with our customers and suppliers in a multidisciplinary team. You will be able to lead UX aspects of projects, with minimal supervision, from a UX perspective supporting end-users while making sure business requirements are fulfilled.
You may have the responsibility to mentor junior designers and perform a broad range of tasks such as stakeholder management, supporting co-design workshops, creating personas and usability testing. You should be able to organise your own workload and also to manage junior designer's when needed.
This role will be working with a Central Government department - Candidates need to be SC cleared or SC clearable and have experience working with Government Digital Services.Principle responsibilities
Using your experience in running collaborative workshops to engage with stakeholders, your job is to make sure that the project team understands users and their needs clearly at the beginning of the project and create the best solution possible to meet user needs and business requirements. You should be confident to communicate the rationale behind design decisions to the wider team and stakeholders, and work closely with the project managers to provide a breakdown of tasks and associated estimates to produce deliverables.
As an experienced UX designer you should be able to deliver the following based on the project requirements:
- Information architecture;
* User journeys and task models;
* User flows and site flows;
* Sketches, wireframes and prototypes;
* Usability and accessibility testing;
* UI & UX pattern library;
* Content catalogues.
Key abilities required for a UX designer are:
- Ability to iterate on designs rapidly and devise multiple variant concepts for testing;
* Ability to select and use ergonomic tools and methods to develop interaction design and UI to meet user needs and accessibility standards;
* Ability to liaise with Product Owners and Stakeholders to clarify requirements;
* Ability to work with Business Analysts on refining and updating designs aligned with business requirements;
* Ability to liaise with development teams to clarify feasibility of a design and ensure the UX solution is correctly transitioned into development;
* In-depth knowledge and experience in user-centred design approach;
* Ability to produce prototypes in HTML is a big plus.
This role will be for 5 days per week from 25th September - 21st October
Then 2 days per week from 2.5 23rd October - 17th November
The 1 day per week 20th November - 16th December.
