Description

Content Strategist (German & English speaking)

Our client, a leading Financial Services Firm are looking to hire a Content Strategist (German & English speaking).

Purpose of the role

A key part in the success of the proposition will be the ability to attract, engage, and build trust with customers through engaging content. The purpose of this role is to deliver the best possible content experience to users of a new online service for mass affluent and wealth customers, by applying best practice across a public-facing website, secure app and other customer communications in the highly regulated financial industry.

You will produce content that is focused on the needs of the user while meeting the demands of numerous stakeholders across the business. Always at the front of your mind will be: how do we help users to achieve successful outcomes online.

We're looking for a content strategist/copywriter who can create original, engaging and trust-building content in both English and German, and to translate content from English and localise it for the German audience.

You may have worked in an agency or in house. Either way, you'll have several years' experience working on complex projects, preferably (but not essential) in the financial sector. You will combine a copywriter's grasp of the nuances of language with the pragmatic approach necessary for working with web and application development teams.

An eye for detail is essential, but beyond this you must have a mind that can grasp the complexities that lie behind the detail, and the confidence to challenge diplomatically and effectively. This involves high degree of stakeholder management, the ability to work comfortably in a fast-moving environment with multiple variables and unknowns.

You will need to be able to manage stakeholders with diplomacy while pushing your agenda to create the best, most intuitive and consistent content experience for users.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create original content in English and German to an exceptionally high standard.
  • Translate content from English into compelling, engaging content for the German-speaking audience.
  • Commission video, animation and other non-text content where necessary.
  • Ensure all content has a consistent tone-of-voice in line with the guidelines.
  • Manage the process for getting content agreed and approved by multiple stakeholders in different business units.
  • Ensure that signed-off copy is delivered to deadline.
  • Manage multiple stakeholders and voices across the organisation - from customer services to compliance - and balance sometimes competing demands to achieve the best outcomes for the project.
  • Manage ongoing content creation and engagement with customers through multiple online channels, collaborating with marketing where necessary.
  • Collaborate closely with the UK head of content strategy, as well as design, user experience, research and development teams to ensure that design and functionality properly support the needs of the content.
  • Champion the role of content within the team, group, and larger organization to provide business partners with user-centric, innovative online communications that meet business needs and user objectives.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure that content meets legal, compliance, SEO, accessibility, and style guide requirements; take the initiative to engage and coordinate content testing, peer review, and proofreading.

Experience and Qualifications

  • High level of fluency in written and spoken German and English is essential, including recent domicile in Germany
  • Exceptional content creation experience that must involve writing; other forms of content creation such as animation, video creation will help.
  • Proven experience writing and editing in both German and English, either as a journalist or a copywriter.
  • Experience with financial services useful but not essential
  • Competent understanding of the financial services industry.
  • Competency with information architecture and user experience best practices.
  • Ability to efficiently consolidate and/or realign direction from multiple sources.
  • Understand customer data, needs, motivations and behaviours and translate them into deliverable tasks.
  • Senior stakeholder management large complex organisations.
  • Working with user experience and design teams.
  • Understanding of how to write for online.
  • Developing user personas and using those to guide and inform projects.
  • Working with content management systems, with an understanding of the architectural considerations of content will be useful.
  • Experience of setting content KPIs and analysing performance.
  • Proven relationship-building skills.
  • Confident presentation and communication skills to champion the benefits and logistics of project deliverables and timelines.
  • Ability to work independently, quickly, and thoroughly to prioritize and complete tasks under multiple deadlines.
  • Creativity, curiosity, optimism, and a sense of humour.
