Description
Job Purpose
To generate technical documentation in support of Rail Automation products, systems and contracts in accordance with the Technical Publications Group (TPG) Procedures and Standards.
Key Duties
- Prepare and produce manuals and other documentation to the
- required standard and within set timescales and budgets.
- Determine types of manuals required.
- Determine document's readership and purpose.
- Obtain source information by: liaison with engineers, research
- specifications, drawings and Internet.
- Source or produce technical illustrations using department's
- drawing and graphical software packages and digital photography.
- Team working with other authors.
- Report and record progress and maintain relevant records as
- required by TPG standards.
- Undertake any other work as directed by the TPG Team Leader.
- Keep TPG Team Leader informed of work in progress.
Requirements
- Excellent standard of written English.
- Competent with Adobe Framemaker, Adobe Acrobat Pro, MS
- Office, MS Visio, Adobe Photoshop.
- Minimum of two years working in an authoring role.
- Good communications skills (verbal and written).
- Flexible attitude.
- Able to understand engineering drawings (mechanical and
- electrical).
- Quality Control awareness.
- Broad engineering-based background.
Desirable
Technical Author qualification and/or Membership of ISTC.
- Railway engineering background.
