Description

Job Title: Group Communications Manager

Location: Based in central London at least 3 days a week with some national & international travel

The Role
:

We are supporting a leading organisation in central London who are seekiing an experienced, energetic and enthusiastic Communications Manager to join the Group Corporate Affairs team, with responsibility for managing the Group's press office function and key social media channels. You will work with the Group media relations team, whose purpose is to build, maintain and protect the companies reputation, by developing and implementing media strategies that help position the company.

As part of the media relations team you will work with internal communications and Public Affairs colleagues to develop messaging, proof points, draft copy and help build a pool of spokespeople.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Build strong working relationships with the media, in particular with the UK trade and key Pan-European industry press;
  • Develop and manage an annual press, PR & social media events calendar in line with Group strategy, linking up with various Corporate Affairs colleagues to ensure full integration of planned activities;
  • Develop and implement high impact media plans, spotting feature opportunities and identifying strong news hooks;
  • Plan and distribute content on social media channels, including LinkedIn, Twitter and the website, and assist the Director of Media Relations with the planning of the social and digital media strategy to help drive traffic and engagement to the channels;
  • Monitor the media for opportunities and risks;
  • Ensure there is a pool of trained spokespeople;
  • Act as the day-to-day contact for the retained PR agency ensuring they perform in line with agreed KPIs;
  • Act as the day-to-day contact for comms colleagues across the UK and Europe, ensuring in-market developments and innovations are being shared in a timely fashion and provide PR support as and when necessary;
  • Regularly update the Group crisis manual and support in times of a crisis;
  • Manage the on-call press office roster.

Person Specification

  • Good interpersonal and presentation skills and confidence;
  • Excellent written communication skills;
  • Flexibility, determination, enthusiasm and the ability to cope well under pressure
  • Good teamwork;
  • The ability to think strategically and good analytical skills;
  • Business awareness and a good knowledge of current affairs;
  • Creativity and imagination;
  • A passion for all things digital;
  • Experience in building social media communities;
  • Initiative.
