Content Designer - Bristol or Nottingham (Inside of IR35) - £225 per day

My Public Sector client is seeking a Senior Content Designer to oversee a team of Content Designers. This role can be based in Bristol or Nottingham and will require travel to other sites. This is an initial three month contract.

This role is paying up to £225 per day and has been assessed to be inside of the IR35 regulations which means you will have to operate via an Umbrella company.

Job details:

Take complex language and processes and make them simple to understand, work with people who don't understand good web usability. Be able to explain your decisions/edits clearly. Content writing and design skills, work in an agile multidisciplinary team of Developers, Designers, and Analysts. Work on needs analysis - taking existing content, messaging needs, and identifying content gaps and overlaps.

You will be Responsible for:

  • Identifying, by applying established principles, methods and past experience and matching
  • user needs to appropriate content formats, and creation, monitoring and improvement of
  • content and style across DVSA's content on GOV.UK.

Ensures that

  • it is continually simpler, clearer and faster for end users to understand, remember and act on government services and information, by providing advice and information to others
  • end users of information can thus remain safe and comply with the law and national standards
  • DVSA content meets the government design principles and standards
  • An advisor to the agency in general and Stakeholder Management group in particular, on user insight
  • and implementation of all web publishing and digital communications.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Extensive experience of writing for the web, with proven ability of creating content that complies with statutory accessibility requirements
  • Willing to be trained by GDS in content design
  • Excellent knowledge of the Internet with proven experience of working within a web application development environment, proficient in writing Markdown, picture sourcing and editing
  • Experience in choosing the optimum format for displaying information to the user.
  • Experienced in working with content publishing systems.
  • Whilst all these elements are fundamental for a professional content designer role, and although there will be the opportunity for some training and development if there are gaps in knowledge, you will need to demonstrate an aptitude during the recruitment process.
