Multi-media Content Creator

As one of Vodafone's strategic partner we are seeking Content Creator to join their team to the end of financial year in Paddington. Identifying and communicating powerful examples of how Vodafone makes a difference and positioning Vodafone as a thought leader on wider technology and societal topics is critical in enhancing the company's reputation and helping us to positively influence conversations affecting our business. Vodafone Group has an award-winning external communications team, but has recognised the need for a strategic shift towards high intensity digital storytelling on social media at an international level - taking relevant newsworthy topics and creating a regular flow of multi-media content for use on Vodafone's owned digital channels globally.

Leadership and teamwork

  • The post-holder will be responsible for creating content for a digital newsroom portal.
  • The post-holder will have an exceptional news sense, be able to quickly get to the heart of a story using multi-media content.
  • The post-holder will be an expert at translating technology based stories into accessible, consumer-friendly content.
  • The post-holder will think creatively about how to weave case studies or technology use cases in audio, visual and video content.
  • The post-holder will tap into external trends, new ideas and emerging innovation in order to proactively pitch their own story ideas.
  • The post-holder should have a network of contacts to draw upon and generate ideas that will ideally include stories from a wide variety of markets and sources.
  • The post-holder will work closely with Vodafone's local markets, other Group External Affairs colleagues (including the Group Corporate Communications, Vodafone Foundation, Sustainable Business and Public Policy teams), and other functions (such as Group Brand, Group Technology, Group Commercial, Human Resources and Internal Communications) to identify stories and find proof points, interviews etc.
  • The post-holder will have a strong understanding of how content is shared on social media channels and be able to demonstrate success at creating content that got engagement on social channels.
  • The post-holder will work closely with Vodafone's content suppliers and agencies as required.A sustained pipeline of engaging and shareable content focused on Vodafone's key narrative themes (such as digital transformation, diversity, environment). To produce content that shows the transformative impact of connectivity and technology through people-focused stories.

Knowledge and experience

Objectives

  • An understanding of newsroom dynamics and what makes content succeed on social media - gained through either extensive experience within a news outlet or within an organisation's social media or communications team.
  • Strong copywriting skills.
  • Media blogger and influencer contacts, ideally internationally based.
  • Experience working with a variety of stakeholders across multiple functions and geographies.

Essential

  • Strong track record in creating content for social media channels on behalf of a company, news journalism or writing for a prominent blog, with excellent copywriting, editing skills and the ability to source and create compelling content.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills and the ability to distil information into key messages to achieve social media reach and engagement.
  • An ability to work collaboratively across multiple functions and geographies to build consensus and maintain focus on complex goals.

Personal attributes

  • An ability to engage and collaborate with multiple stakeholders both internally and externally.
  • Comfortable working within a non-hierarchical environment.
  • Attention to detail combined with the ability to see the bigger picture at all times
