The Role:

  • Support the head of function in the development and implementation of an integrated communication strategy to promote goals, objectives and achievements through the media whilst linked into and maximizing other communication channels.
  • Be the primary media contact for SFHA in relation to all media and PR matters, ensuring that all messages are in line with the SFHA policy position.
  • Take the lead in responding to media enquiries by providing high quality and accurate information, approved quotes and arranging spokespeople for interview.
  • Write press releases regarding business activity, campaigns or in response announcements ensuring all such press releases are managed in the appropriate timeframe for maximum impact.
  • Take overall responsibility for all media activity
  • Provide effective and high quality public relations support to clients of the business PR service, including writing press releases and news articles for clients and organising photo calls as required.
  • Keep abreast of industry developments

Skills/Experience Required:

  • Degree or equivalent professional qualification in journalism, communications, public relations or similar
  • Experience of working in a range of different relevant environments including a busy press office, public relations or news media environment
  • Extensive experience of both handling media enquiries and briefing journalists
  • Experience in writing for publication with the ability to produce high quality articles with minimal direction or supervision
