An opportunity exists for an individual with Avionic/on-aircraft maintenance skills to join the Engineering Shared Services, Technical Information Services business. The role will be central to the production and delivery of technical information in support of the operation, maintenance, repair and upgrade of in-service aircraft and ground equipment. The individual will be responsible for the timely delivery and output quality of technical publication updates for post design service contracts and modification upgrade programmes.

As a Avionic Author your main activities will include, but will not be limited to:

- The research and interrogation of engineering design databases and other technical source data to prepare and produce Avionic technical data

- Apply publication specification requirements in order to generate appropriate depth and scope of technical data

- Liaise with appropriate engineering departments and suppliers to fully investigate change request proposals

- Populate specialist desktop publishing systems in preparation, production and provisioning of technical documentation

- Adherence to engineering and life cycle processes

The job holder will originate technical data for the eventual delivery to our customers as either Interactive Technical Manuals or hard copy publications.

Responsibilities

The Author is responsible to the Section Leader for the production of technical data in accordance with specific post design and modification upgrade programmes. Responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

  • Research, preparation, production, provisioning and subsequent maintenance of technical documentation/data for in-service operation and maintenance activities (data is produced in SGML to a variety of international specifications and/or national MoD/DoD specifications).
  • Close liaison with all aspects of engineering through interaction with engineering and design authority personnel and/or the interrogation of contributory engineering databases.
  • Work within a team of authors on aircraft systems, commonly used specifications and desktop publishing systems to aid the preparation, production and provisioning of technical documentation.
