For a big client of ours in the E-commerce industry we are looking for a Technical Writer
Start: ASAP
Location: From home with some trips to Amsterdam
Duration: 3 months (option to extend by good collaboration)
Our client is an innovative leader in online classifieds in 16 countries. They provide technology-based services to connect buyers and sellers and facilitate transactions, from job offers to real estate, cars, consumer goods and more.

They believe that solving customer problems and delivering value to their business can be done at scale. As the Global Capabilities team, they offer their local brands a portfolio of capabilities along the end customer journey that speeds up time to market across the Group. Their global teams develop and innovate a broad variety of central solutions and services: Full integrations of Back Office systems, central advertising, experimentation and Real Time communication solutions, personalisation and performance APIs and algorithms as well as a central data infrastructure.
Now they want to take the next step in further professionalizing their offering to their local markets, by bringing their documentation, its structure, and the related processes to the next level. They want to make sure they can provide their local engineers, product managers, and business owners with proper and just-in-time documentation. For this work we are looking for a technical writer to help our client out.
They can rely on you as a Technical Writer to:
- Set up a library of services documentation, cataloguing it for internal and/or external use (using backstage.io as platform for building their developer portal)
- Gather and analyse their current technical and product information from various sources (to organize the current documentation towards the new library)
- Create templates for written documentation produced by others, ensuring a consistent "look and feel."
- Prepare, review, and revise their technical documents, supporting the teams to get their documentation structured and properly published (this is an initial step to ensure this work gets ingrained in their way of working)
- Assist in planning, scheduling, and tracking documentation work to keep the library up to date (so more setting up of the structure, guidelines, principles)
For the position of Technical Writer, we are looking for an enthusiastic person with a positive, customer centric mindset/attitude.
What do you bring:
- BA or BS degree in Communication or similar
- Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Tech savvy with clear affinity with software, preferably with experience with a docs-as-code approach
- Experience using tools to create, manage, version, and publish documentation, like Markdown, GitHub, mkdocs, pandoc, and Backstage
- Can play a leading role in the project structure, and organize and drive the documentation process
