E-commerce Front End Developer

Inside IR35 - Remote or Hybrid working available

Our client, a global media organisation is in the process f migrating from a Legacy platform to Shopify and are looking for an experienced E-commerce Front End Developer to join on an initial 12-month contract. Using your eComm UX & design skills you will build out mobile first eComm experiences for customers and retail brands that help to deliver engaging Front End experiences that help eCommerce conversions.

Skills required:

  • Excellent HTML/CSS/JS (or similar) knowledge
  • Strong proficiency in modern design patterns
  • Implementing mobile first, responsive web design principles
  • Able to work with the team to research requirements and if required write specifications for technical implementation and support UAT
  • General code and feature maintenance - Issue tracking and improvements to existing store features
  • Experience creating and editing themes
  • Comfortable with version control, issue trackers and project management tools
  • Liaise and build good working relationships with all internal and external contacts including Store Managers, Developers, Labels and as appropriate artist management
  • Provide support and training to store managers/stakeholders on store building procedures and advice on best practice and develop relevant documentation resources as required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to understand, explain and communicate technical concepts to various business units
  • Customer-first mentality with ability to empathise and create customer loyalty
  • Support the store operations team in production launches and daily troubleshooting
  • Solid grounding on common Front End design & development patterns and best practices
  • Collaborate with store manager/developer and develop performance optimizations, improve UX and accessibility
  • Experience creating and editing themes and/or sites for platforms like Shopify with a good knowledge of webstore CMS (or similar) and actions
  • Experience of using a CSS style editor (or similar) to theme template or handling code updates with store and template code.

Desirable skills;

  • Knowledge of Shopify and its templating language (Liquid) to design and build E-comm themes, build new feature sets and interfaces ( or similar)
  • Knowledge of APIs, webhooks, and general data transfer approaches
  • Demonstrable eCommerce platform Front End experience
  • A good understanding of SEO and page optimisation
  • Understanding of DNS, being able to support senior devs with managing store domain operations (DNS updates, SSL orders and installation or similar)
  • Working knowledge of E-commerce technology landscape and associated stacks (shopping cart, API integrations, OMS, IMS, WMS, credit card processing, digital distribution etc)
  • Commercial experience coding modern HTML, CSS & Javascript ( or similar) and good understanding of modern design patterns
  • Experience with version control systems (Bitbucket/GitHub), issue trackers and project management tools
  • Shopify theme development & liquid templating language
  • Project mgmt tool experience and working in an agile way with Kanban method/framework
