Safety Engineer - Product Safety Case Development, Nuclear Safety Case Development, Process Development

A Safety Engineer with Product Safety Case Development, Nuclear Safety Case Development, and Process Development skills/experience is required to work on a twelve month contract with the possibility of extension for our Defence client based in Cumbria

Overview of the Safety Engineer contract role

  • Construct FT Logic of Top Event
  • Identify and agree event data with ARM team
  • Cut set development and assessment
  • Establish safety targets for system functions, map to SFRs and liaises with MOP apportionment team
  • Peer review FTA
  • Present findings to system owners
  • Report and write up PSSA using structured report format/template
  • Undertake FIL, SIL and Classification of systems performing a safety function
  • Assess system architectures against functional integrity level iaw with defence specific process
  • Allocate SIL and/or Classifications to items
  • Complete review and populate SIL & Classification data sheets

Key skills required for the Safety Engineer

  • Experience in product safety case development or nuclear safety case development
  • Specific experience in probabilistic safety assessment
  • Fire Safety Analysis
  • Systems Functional Failure Analysis
  • Preliminary System Safety Analysis requiring Fault Tree Analysis FTA using reliability work bench
  • SIL and categorisation of SSC important to safety
  • Able to work within the QMS, Teamcenter and CWE document management repositories.
  • A good understanding of process development and design philosophies.

The role is based in Barrow in Furness, Cumbria - commutable from Carnforth, Milnthorpe, Lancaster, Morecambe, Penrith, Workington, Whitehaven and The Lake District
