Description

A Renewable Energy Operator is looking for an experienced WTG Contract Engineer to support the planning of works including installation through to construction and work on supplier management on an Offshore Wind Turbine WTG package. The WTG Contract Engineer (also called WTG Support Engineer) will work in the UK HQ office reporting into the WTG Package Manager and complete site visits at the onshore construction site in the South UK. This is a freelance contract position starting ASAP (ASAP) until mid/end 2017.

Responsibilities:
Commercial
  • Supporting WTG Manager, Engineering Manager and Logistics Manager regarding Procurement and Legal matters related to the Wind Turbine Contract
  • Advising the WTG package manager, and other project staff in the handling of subcontractors and to secure our rights and contractual claims
  • Claims management
  • Securing of evidence and documentation of contract variations and other claim-related events
  • Coordination of project participants as part of the claim management
  • Checking of all WTG contract variations, with input into interfaces with other Contract packages 
  • Participate in meetings with Contractor and sub-suppliers covering commercial issues
  • Ensure project specific requirements are covered during contract management

Technical

  • Ensure WTG Contractor meets contract technical requirements
  • Perform technical evaluation of the contractors variations and contract proposal
  • Assist in management and provision of technical specifications in contract documentation in collaboration with other technical experts
  • Participate in meetings with Contractor and sub-suppliers covering technical issues
  • Assist in managing the iterative design process for the WTG package
  • Assist in managing design interface issues to the foundation and cable packages in collaboration with the project Interface Manager
  • Provide WTG Contractor with project technical information as required
  • Provide technical information to Project Certifier (DNV or similar) and manage process where required
  • Provide technical WTG information to Marine Warranty Surveyor

Documentation & Records

  • Handle document management for all commercial and technical documentation supporting WTG package manager and in coordination with Project Document Controller
  • Create and manage the WTG package deviation list
  • Create and manage the WTG package change request list

Quality

  • Collaborate with project Quality Manager on quality related issues

HSE

  • Collaborate with project HSSE Manager on HSSE design related issues

Training

  • Preparation of contract work trainings for entire team

Qualifications:

  • University degree preferably in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, industrial engineering or business law
  • 5 years of specific experience on Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs)
  • Previous involvement in design process for offshore WTG packages
  • Previous involvement in tender process and evaluation of suppliers' tenders and contract proposals
  • Experience of WTG installation and understanding contracts
  • Many years of experience in project/investment business with complex contract structures
  • Initiative - ability to make decisions - team spirit - communication skills - planning and organiSational skills
