Operational Risk Officer

Operational Risk Officer required with experience of Operational Risk within Financial Services. You will be working at a high profile Financial Services organisation in Swindon who are looking to offer 6 month initial contract Should you wish to be considered please apply or send CV direct to (see below)

The Job:

To support the Divisional Director in discharging operational risk management accountabilities through coordinating the design, implementation and operation of appropriate risk oversight, management and controls assurance mechanisms within the business area.

  • Implement the Group's agreed policy and methodology for identifying and assessing operational risk and determining the effectiveness of controls throughout the Division.
  • Provide direction, advice and guidance to the senior management team on the business area's current operational risk and control environment, with specific accountability for identifying the risk impacts arising from proposed changes to business activities, processes or from broader environmental factors.
  • Act as the business area's focal point, and recognised expert in operational risk oversight, management and control design. Develop and co-ordinate the implementation of local operational risk oversight arrangements, policies and processes.
  • Coordinate the operational risk event reporting process and identify/investigate causes of significant control or policy breaches, on behalf of the Operational Risk Unit.
  • Develop and produce appropriate operational risk and control information as required by the senior management team, ORU, Internal Controls Team and other internal risk and control functions.
  • Coordinate development and delivery of a training and awareness programme to embed operational risk practice across the business area.
  • Provide specific support in developing and implementing quantitatively based operational risk concepts necessary to meet our regulatory related operational risk strategy.

Skills Required:

  • Likely to be educated to degree level and/or hold a relevant professional qualification
  • Good knowledge of the Financial Services sector
  • Good appreciation of governance issues, operational risk management concepts and methodologies, coupled with practical experience of implementing operational risk and control management processes (for example in a role managing an operational unit).
  • Excellent facilitation, communication, influencing and conflict management skills.
