Introduction

My client; a rapidly growing company with the ambitious objectives of faster, smaller, cheaper fusion energy is seeking an Electrical Engineer with pulsed power experience.

The Job

The Electrical Engineer will report to the Engineering Director and be a key member of the engineering team. They will be responsible for detailed design, specification and procurement of key electrical systems for the company's projects, and will work closely with the scientific team, to produce the electrical systems, components, equipment and importantly, power supplies.

In addition, an important aspect of this position will be to act in a hands-on capacity to perform the more complex testing and set-up work.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Provide robust, reliable and cost-effective electrical engineering solutions.

-Design and develop electrical systems and power supplies for the Company's step-wise proof-of-principle machines in lie with IEE/IET codes and standards.

-Establish dedicated electrical engineering facilities within the Engineering Centre and instigate appropriate systems of control.

-Ensure electrical safety compliance in complex scientific, high component density areas.

-Review electrical design of the company's existing machines to optimise performance.

-Take personal charge of the more complex electrical installation work and perform system and component tests.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

-The candidate should be a Chartered electrical engineer or equivalent.

-Detailed technical knowledge of high energy pulsed power supplies in the 1-5 KV/100MW range.

-Familiarity with ultra-capacitor based systems would be advantageous.

-Experience gained in a high technology systems environment from within (eg.) Electric vehicles/transportation/electricity utility/scientific research disciplines.

-Strong project management skills, use and understanding of Microsoft Project or similar management/scheduling tools.

-Ability to present clear and unambiguous reports to back-up high value purchasing decisions.

-A proactive, enthusiastic team player, happy to be involved in 'whatever it takes' in a high growth phase company.
