Maritime Electrical Engineer - Electrical Design, Combat Systems, SQEP
A Maritime Electrical Engineer with Electrical Design, Combat System and SQEP expereince is required to work on a twelve month contract with the possibility of extension for our Defence client based in Edinburgh.
This is a 12 month contract working with a leading UK defence client.
Overview of the MS Electrical Engineer contract role
The Maitime Electrical Engineer will be a member of the Naval Ship System Team supporting the platform activities associated with the installation, setting-to-work and test and acceptance of the Mission System. The role's main purpose is to be the Maritime Electrical SQEP and to provide advice on the electrical safety of Maritime equipment and installations.
Key skills required for the QEC MS Electrical Engineer.
- Ensure that electrical aspects of the MS design and implementation is fit for purpose and meets all regulatory and corporate governance rules.
- Contribute when required to Design Certification.
- Knowledge of Combat Systems and their component systems used in the maritime environment.
- At least five years' experience in the design of mains powered electrical designs.
- Sound understanding of the 17th Edition of the BS 7671.
- First-rate report engineering and technical report writing skills.
- Knowledge of interface specifications and management.
- Experience of system integration and trials.
- A first degree (or equivalent) in electrical engineering or an associated science subject.
- At least five years' experience in the design of mains powered electrical designs.
- A suitable qualification in the 17th Edition of the BS 7671.
- Sound design engineering knowledge gained through at least 5 years of multi-disciplinary experience eg systems working in the defence industry.
The role is based in Edinburgh - commutable from Dundee, Perth, Glenrothes, Kirkcaldy, Dunfermline, Stirling and Falkirk with excellent access from Glasgow.
