Mechanical Design Engineer - 3 month temporary contract - Immediate start

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experience Mechancial Design engineer to join a well known construction and engineering company on a temporary 3 month contract basis. The successful candidate will need to hold a UK Drivers License with access to a car.

The successful candidate will produce designs and drawings for plant and equipment to be used by Ground Engineering in order to achieve excellence in safety, quality, sustainability and efficiency, ensuring consistency with the company Business Management System.

Day to day duties;

  • Produce mechanical designs (drawings and calculations) for the development of equipment, for the Ground Engineering business.
  • Ensure all design work undertaken complies with statutory regulations and risks are fully managed and communicated with regards to safety
  • Be familiar with, and adopt, the latest design methods, design standards and design software to ensure that all designs are practical and cost effective.
  • Ensure that all projects are fully planned, and are signed off in accordance with the business requirements.
  • Ensure that all design work is documented in accordance with BBGE requirements and communicated effectively to the manufacturing department.
  • Support the operations and work winning teams to provide innovative solutions to Ground Engineering customers.
  • Support the procurement team in sourcing the best components/equipment.
  • Use latest design software techniques used in the 3D and BIM fields and promote the use of these.
  • Lead and manage audit and assurance of the factory processes and suppliers, identifying good practice and areas for improvement and ensure these are captured in the strategy and BMS.

The role requires an HNC in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent). The individual should possess, or be working towards, a relevant professional qualification.

The role requires knowledge in in the use of 3D solid modelling to create 3D components and assemblies and also producing 2D manufacturing drawings to recognised national standards. The individual needs to be able to use the built in CAD software tools to create simulations and analysis of the designs created.

The individual needs to be capable of using latest 3D design software to provide innovative solutions to plant problems, and have an understanding of BIM.
