Communications Manager - Internal Communications - 6 months - London or Bristol

A top retail bank based in London and Bristol currently requires an Internal Communications Manager to join their change readiness department.

You will be responsible for the delivery of a high quality, effective Communication service to the programme and will ensure that a detailed and robust communication plan is developed, managed and delivered in line with agreed timescales. Also, relationship management with Communication Partners in other divisions of the Bank will be a vital part of this role.

You may be responsible for the delivery of a high quality, effective Communication service to one or more projects or programmes.

Responsibilities of the Role

You will be responsible for the delivery of a high quality, effective Communication service to one or more projects or programmes.

  • Work with the project to understand, identify, plan and manage all communication deliverables that are required by the programme
  • Develop integrated communication strategies that are aligned to the aims of the programme and the Groups strategic vision and purpose
  • Lead internal communication Working Groups to agree and oversee the implementation of communication strategies across all impacted Business areas
  • Provide Comms consultancy support where required
  • Liaise with Press Office & any external 3rd parties at an industry level, taking and passing the required internal tests where necessary
  • Provide content for key stakeholder/exec packs
  • Manage stakeholders in the business and across Group to obtain buy-in and support for communications strategies and deliverables needed for the project
  • Develop strategic narrative and articulate key messages to underpin programme requirements ensuring alignment to wider narrative and strategy
  • Approve, edit and write content for a range of internal and external channels and media
  • Develop and manage communications governance and sign-off processes
  • Identify, escalate and mitigate emerging risks as appropriate to protect the reputation and interests of the programme
  • Research and use best in class communication practices to develop communications strategies and share this knowledge to support the continued development of the Programme Comms workstream and Change Readiness Services.
  • Manage the projects/programme comms budget, if required
  • Co-ordinate and manage programme events, if required

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience as a Communications Manager
  • Be able to use problem solving skills to develop strategic solutions to communication challenges
  • Strong and practical experience of delivering communications across large, complex projects at a senior level
  • Working knowledge of working with senior leadership teams
  • Excellent written and verbal Communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills
