Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Build, manage, and troubleshoot multiple VMware environments
- Develop and maintain VMware-related standards, policies and procedures
- Plan, design, implement, and continuously improve disaster recovery procedures for virtualized systems
- Document new systems and procedures and ensure that all engineering artifacts are maintained
- Conduct ongoing virtualization technology assessments, research new virtualization related products and features and develop cost effective recommendations and plans for optimizing the virtualization environment
- Keep abreast of emerging remote access and mobile computing technologies and make appropriate recommendations regarding their implementation
- Provide Tier IV support to resolve complex technical operational problems
- Tasks may also include writing documentation, supporting meetings, writing presentations, presenting to customer executives, etc.
Knowledge, Desired Skills and Ability Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in a consulting and/or professional services environment.
- 2+ years as a technical solutions architect in a consulting environment, including time supporting sales and leading technical projects for small or medium size teams.
- Experience with the architecture, design, and implementation of VMware enterprise products including ESX/vSphere, View, vCenter
- Experience with HP Servers and Blade a plus
- Experience with the architecture, design, and implementation of Active Directory service including AD DS, DNS, DHCP, DFS and Group Policies.
- Understanding of networking technology as it relates to virtualization
- Understanding of different storage technologies related to virtualization, to included Fibre Channel, iSCSI, NAS, and Block Storage
- Understanding of how to virtualization mission critical applications such as SQL and Exchange
- Experience with supporting environments with multiple hypervisors
- Engineering experience with solution development and product/technology evaluation
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to resolve Tier IV issues
- Background in writing documentation, presentations and policy
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience developing engineering pilots highly desired
- Experience with enterprise-sized Citrix environments and lab experience highly desired

- MCSE, MCSA, MCTS, VCP4/5-DCV, VCP5/6-DT, VCAP4/5-DCA, VCAP4/5-DCD
Education
B.S. Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Development, Network Engineering or Information Systems
