Description

Modis are currently recruiting for a well known multi national Electronics components company that urgently require an experienced CAD Designer on a 6 month rolling contract basis to assist them on multiple projects.

The successful candidate will be working at their European Design Centre based near Oxford supporting the design, development and delivery of automotive components to their European customers.

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
CAD Designer role for automotive component business in Europe.

Key activities include:
*Development of Catia v5 3D model according to customer requirements
*Preparation of 2D drawings according to customer and supplier requirements
*Application of GD&T standards to 2D drawing
*Support component and assembly tolerance analysis
*Working as part of an international team

Responsibilities of a CAD designer include:
- Lead role for applying GD&T to 2D drawings under preparation in Catia (or similar CAD package) for complex automotive plastic parts and assemblies, based on your current knowledge and experience with the latest standards.
- Definition of GD&T drawing tolerances should include consideration of part checking, measurement and qualification of parts for automotive MP
- Development of Catia v5 (or similar CAD package) CAD data to automotive standards which involves complex geometric class A plastic surfaces
- Design is for high volume, high quality mass production automotive products, which includes injection moulded plastics and stamped metal parts. Design must consider:
o Injection mould tool constraints
o Constraints of a metal stamping progression tool
o Minimising tolerances according to customer priorities
- Supporting release of CAD data and uploading into the customer database (eg Team Centre)
- Preparation of 2D drawings in Catia (or similar CAD package) according to the customer specified GD&T approach.
- Change/version control of the Catia 3D model/2D drawings
- Support complex tolerance analysis in accordance with customer direction
- Preparation of presentations to explain design concepts suitable to release to the customer (Automotive OEM) or suppliers (eg Manufacturing partner)
- Customer and Supplier (eg Tool Maker) conference calls to explain the design and support development of the design, 3D model or 2D drawings.

Some of the role may involve meeting with customers so customer facing experience is essential.
