Mechanical Engineer - Design, Continuous Improvement, Testing and Qualification

A Mechanical Engineer with design, continuous improvement, testing and qualification experience is required to work for our Engineering client based in Lancashire.

This is a 6 month contract with our engineering client.

Overview of the Mechanical Engineer contract role

A fully autonomous role to design and engineer bespoke products from concept through to production for a market leading lighting company. Delivering products to the company's high standards. Developing relationships and dealing with internal and external stakeholders. Support the Engineering & Integration team in all key duties.

Key skills required for the Mechanical Engineer

  • Pick up the design from concept stage and manage the detail design through to manufacturing.
  • Liaise with various departments including manufacturing to ensure designs meet manufacturing parameters and capabilities.
  • Develop and create effective engineering solutions to support product development.
  • Enhance the product - with continuous improvement and value engineering.
  • 3D modelling.
  • Produce manufacturing drawings.
  • Reverse engineer components to support product improvements or introduce changes.
  • Qualification of product design.
  • Prototype manufacture.
  • Testing and Qualification; including analysing test data to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.
  • Develop relationships with Design, Engineering, Procurement, Project Management, Quality, Planning and Manufacturing to support the concept design process and assist in the smooth transition to Manufacturing.
  • Liaise with relevant departments in the development and the creation of Works Instructions for new products.
  • Attend training and develop relevant knowledge, techniques and skills and work within company procedures at all times.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety Policy, and other requirements relating to care of equipment/personnel
