Electrical Design Engineer- Power, Propulsion and LV/HV
A Electrical Design Engineer with propulsion, power and LV/HV experience is required to work on a six month contract with the possibility of extension for our Defence client based in Portsmouth.
This is a 6 month contract with a leading UK defence business.
Overview of the A Electrical Design Engineer contract role
The Electrical Designer is a key role in the Power & Propulsion Engineering team responsible for providing electrical engineering capability across a broad set of challenges to meet the needs of the team.
Key skills required for the Electrical Design Engineer
- Electrical Engineering applied to a Marine and/or Defence environment
- Experience in Power and propulsion systems and in particular HV & LV power distribution systems
- Demonstrable experience with HV and LV Power electronics system design and analysis
- Proven competence with a proprietary electrical modelling platform - Amtech, SKM Power tools or ETAP etc.
Good working knowledge of the following.

- Design Proving
- Systems Acceptance
- Systems Analysis
- Product Safety Management
The role is based in Portsmouth, Hampshire - commutable from Southampton, Cowes, Isle of Wight, Salisbury, Winchester, Andover, Basingstoke, Guildford, Aldershot, Crawley, Horsham, Brighton, Worthing, Chichester.
