Description

Communications and Stakeholder Engagement Manager with good PR/press experience required for 2 year contract with public sector organisation in Glasgow.

Duties will include:

  • Writing, research and co-ordination of press releases and photo calls including writing well-structured, persuasive copy. Also attendance and organisation of photo calls often in areas with no public transport. This will involve dealing confidently with a number of stakeholders as well as the press and media
  • Run a multi-channel stakeholder engagement programme which includes engaging with MSPs, MPs, MEPs, local authority members and business leaders This will include liaison with these stakeholders, writing tailored copy as well as sourcing data for regular updates
  • Work closely with the Senior Stakeholder Manager and the enquiries team monitoring and developing activity, in order to respond proactively to information and knowledge gaps. Ultimately ensuring that the programme is perceived in a positive light
  • Work closely with the Policy team to fully understand their remit, the need to accurately represent wider policy and seek guidance as and when required for ministerial briefings and the ability to draft ministerial briefings
  • Work closely with the communications team, liaising with them on a regular basis, ensuing that they are fully abreast of the programme and involved in its promotion

Essential Skills:

  • Ability to work in a senior role within a communications/PR/press office including dealing with media enquiries, handling complex information and drafting press releases
  • Flexible approach to work and ability to work as part of a team
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills
  • Candidate must be able to drive - Meetings and photo calls are often in rural or remote areas with little public transport

Desirable Skills:

  • Ability to think strategically and creatively regarding the long-term development of programme PR and engagement work
  • Ability to plan and execute campaigns and strategies
  • A proven track record of achievement in the field of PR/engagement/communications
  • Excellent record in successful event management
  • Ability to plan, execute and evaluate social media campaigns

Candidates will be required to either already hold a valid Disclosure Scotland or be willing and able to apply for one prior to CV submittal to the client.
