Description

Title: Communications and Engagement Manager

Location: Birmingham, Leicester, Mansfield and Rugeley

Duration: 3 months with an option to extend likely

Rate: £185 - £250 per day 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Communications and Engagement Managers work as part of small specialist teams in the press office. They have particular portfolios with subjects they are responsible for offering media handling advice to Ministers, Special Advisers and officials on these areas.

Essential Experience:

  • Have excellent communication (verbal and written) and proofreading skills
  • Work accurately, identifying errors quickly and easily
  • Have experience of developing communications strategies and implementing them to deliver desired outcomes
  • Be able to take a brief and work with colleagues both internally and externally to find solutions and deliver actions, ensuring all are kept up to date on progress
  • Be able to produce a range of communications materials to be used proactively or reactively, with an appropriate style and content to suit the audience
  • Be self-motivated and a self-starter who is confident in dealing with authority but willing to seek advice when necessary
  • Be willing to work both independently and as part of a team, building trust and goodwill with colleagues
  • Have experience of managing relationships with a wide range of people at all levels
  • Be able to manage a number of complex projects simultaneously and deliver to deadlines, working with the Communications Manager to anticipate risks and manage issues that might impact on delivery
  • Be an effective time manager and a good timekeeper
  • Be competent in the use of Microsoft computer packages.
  • Be confident navigating his/her way around a complex system/organisation
  • Be able to work flexibly to meet the needs of the team/organisation
  • Be willing to travel within the geography and occasionally wider afield to deliver services
