My client, a leading automotive manufacturer, based in Warwickshire, are looking to recruit a Fuel Systems Component Engineer to join their Powertrain division on a long-term contract basis.

Description:
This is a key role in Powertrain Fuels with responsibility for the Component Engineering element of fuel system design. Powertrain Fuels is responsible for the fuel system design, development and sign off and production for all products.
The department is responsible for taking concept design from the Advanced Product Creation (APC) team, refining and driving those designs into production and resolving any field issues. The department has a wide variety of work, currently having major projects on most of the vehicle model lines.
A vacancy exists for fuel system build & test Support Engineer within this team.
Support vehicle launch at pilot build and manufacturing plant, and support resolution of field issues
Be responsible for the implementation of fuel system component designs
Manage CAD engineers and packaging dept to produce component systems, and to optimise design of components
Own the design and verification of fuel system components including their specification, release, testing and manufacture.
Compile and drive costs from suppliers and liaise with Value For Money department, to get optimum costs for the component. Manage suppliers via regular meetings
Compile engineering statement of work and agree with supplier
Experience Required:
Have worked in an component design or development role and used those associated tools
Previous experience in Automotive Engineering environment.
Strong negotiation and meeting skills
Must be able to foster good working relationships internally and drive suppliers to achieve goals
Proven ability to manage own workload, CAD and facilities to meet clear and defined targets
Must be able to communicate and able to present information in a concise and factual manner
Proficient in use of Microsoft Office packages
In addition the successful candidate must be able to work with the supplier base and drive in the principles and operating practices
Experience with managing suppliers, working independently and to tight deadlines
Education Required:
Ideally Degree qualified in suitable Engineering discipline or direct previous experience in a similar role.
Additional Information:
Occasional travel between sites and to suppliers within the UK and Europe may be required
