My client, a leading automotive manufacturer based in Gaydon, Warwickshire, is looking to recruit a Systems Engineer for their Electrical Engineering division on a long term contract basis.

Position: Electronics Test & Control System Engineer

Position Description:
The role of the Systems Engineer for Telematics Systems is to: To Technically lead the End to End design of Telematics systems To technically establish and influence the appropriate use cases and DVP methods to sign-off telematics system operation To interact with the relevant Industry Forums on Telematics designs and standards To interact with the relevant Industry Forums on mobile `phone communications and standards To specify the relevant technical standards for On-board Telematics systems. To establish partnerships with other businesses involved with providing telematics services. To be a consultant on all technical matters relating to Telematics systems, interfacing at all levels, suppliers and industry technical groups.

Skills Required:
Background in Electronic & Software specification, development and delivery.
A good understanding of electronic & software quality standards and industry best practices.
Ideally automotive familiarity with CAN tool chain including CANALYSER, CANOE etc.
Familiarity with vehicle networks including CAN, LIN, Ethernet and Flexray.
Ensure SW strategies can be understood, defined, recorded and implemented in accordance with requirements. Demonstrate resolution of issues (AIM's, eTracker's etc) within confines of timing, cost, function, quality, reliability and durability targets and using company issue resolution process such as 8D/DMAIC, 6 sigma etc.
Good knowledge of vehicle power systems and power modes.
Good knowledge of telematics protocols including NGTP 2.0 and ACP245.
Good knowledge of Internet protocols including TCP/IP, AVB, https, HTML5, IPV4 and IPV6.
Working knowledge of relevant Engineering standards and ability to interpret and apply them.
Understanding of cellular wireless communications technologies including 2G, 3G, LTE, 4G.
Understanding of antenna systems including cellular, fixed wireless, antenna diversity and MIMO.

Skills Preferred:
A flexible approach, willingness to adapt to changing needs as the project evolves.
Good communication skills, written, electronic and verbal.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office 2010 for Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Project.
Good knowledge of systems engineering.
Good knowledge of product design and operation.

Experience Required:
Test life cycle planning for Electronic Control System, managing a small team and reporting out on deliverables.
Support test and validation teams throughout the development cycle.
Support resolution of technical issues Fault log analysis and resolution.
Successful delivery of at least 1 previous Control System project to meet whole world requirements for a major OEM or supplier.
Responsible for developing the verification plan. Experience of achieving system reliability targets using software design techniques.

Education Required:
Test plan generation, managing and reporting Test Rig support.
Support test and validation teams throughout the development cycle Support resolution of technical issues Fault log analysis and resolution.

Education Preferred:
Preferred to be qualified to degree standard or equivalent. Experience in the following fields of Electronics, or Control Systems.
