My client, a leading automotive manufacturer based in Gaydon, Warwickshire, is looking to recruit an Electrical Systems Engineer for their Electrical division on a long term contract basis.

Position: Electrical Systems Engineer
Location: Gaydon, Warwickshire

Position Description:
This role is based within the ADAS team in Electrical Engineering. The ADAS Team develops and delivers driver assistance systems and features based on video, radar and ultrasonic technologies such as Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, Automatic High Beam control, Intelligent Emergency Braking, Traffic Sign Recognition, Intelligent Speed Limiter, Rear View, Junction View, Cross Traffic Alert, 360 degree Plan View, Lane Change Merge Aid, Park Assist. This system engineering position will support the delivery of ADAS related features by delivering: System and functional requirements. System and functional verification methods. Functional allocation. Contribution to the feature definition. System Boundary Diagrams. System Design FMEA. Diagnostic requirements. Functional Safety Analysis according to ISO26262. Control algorithms design, modelling and simulation. Competitors benchmarking. Technical reviews with Tier1 and Tier2 suppliers. Vehicle/system design validation and test reports. Issue identification, investigation and resolution. This position will support cross functional features.

Experience Required:
Experience in Automotive Engineering and specifically, experience in Driver Assistance Systems or comparable complex/safety relevant systems Experience with team management and planning and reporting tools (project, office). Understanding of Quality methods, Failure Mode Avoidance and robustness.

Education Required:
Degree in Electronics, Software, Automotive/Aerospace engineering or similar subject, or equivalent industry experience. Experience of ADAS feature development and delivery through all stages of the engineering development V cycle. Requirements and change management tools and processes, software version control, control strategy documentation. Strong organisational, project management and communication skills essential. Knowledge of MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project). Full UK driving license. Must be eligible to work within the UK without sponsorship.

Education Preferred:
Knowledge of software engineering principles including model based development Experience of virtual test, component test and vehicle testing including proving ground environments. Experience of component and system level issue investigations including appropriate problem solving and reporting tools (Six Sigma, 5D, Is/Is Not, Fault Tree etc). Experience of automotive networking, diagnostics and fault handling techniques, and related system development tools (CANalyzer, ASL, CANape, etc.) Experience working with or managing offshore software development teams and/or 3rd party ECU suppliers for software coding and integration tasks.

Additional Information:
Primarily located at Gaydon. Occasional travel to other sites may be required including overseas. Safety footwear will be required in workshop/manufacturing areas.
