Resulting from a period of continued growth, we are currently looking to recruit a Mechanical Design in our Technical Department.Reporting to the Design Manager the successful candidate will be:
Essential functions and duties
- Competent using a 3D CAD package, ideally Solid Works, FEA skills will be an advantage.
- Demonstrable background in layouts, design, assembly and detail drawing using 3D CAD package.
- Able to undertake detailed design calculations and check calculations done by other Engineers. Familiarity with using MathCad is preferable, e.g. static stress/deflection calculations for beams, shafts (including shear, torsion), fabricated/welded structures; calculating drive torque/power requirements; calculating cylinder sizes etc.
- Good familiarity with manufacturing activities including fabrication and machining.
- Experience of working on site for installation and commissioning activities is desirable.
- Good verbal and written communication skills at all levels.
- Team player also with the ability to work independently.
- Good time management skills and able to manage the demands of working on multiple projects.
- Possess initiative in all aspects of the job role.
- Committed to meeting project milestones and cost budgets.
- Have good PC literacy skills using Word, Excel and other Office applications.
- Mechanical Engineering Degree qualified or similar
- SolidWork or SolidEdge
- FEA and hand calculations
