Description

Summary:
  • WiFi test engineer will provide troubleshooting support and optimization analysis.
  • The individual will be part of a cross-functional team developing automation and testing of technologies and applications using Cable Modems/Multimedia Terminal Adapters (MTA).
  • The primary responsibility is the in-lab integration, and test of MTAs; determine root cause of problems and escalate issue with the appropriate code fix for resolution.
Core Responsibilities:
  • Execute scripted test cases on WiFi CPE equipment using pre-defined test plans and technical requirements as input.
  • Design and Ad-Hoc test scripts and test cases.
  • Analyze test execution results and record test data in ALM systems.
  • Report and track defects and provide regular updates on test status.
  • Technical interface with Engineering teams to reproduce, isolate, and troubleshoot issues found in testing, and/or reported by the customer.
  • Participate in daily scrum meetings to provide status, owning next actions for testing.
  • Prepare Test Strategy and Test Schedule, take an active role in Test Project Planning meetings.
  • Active participation in test design, test execution, and test reporting activities.
  • Development of test use cases, execution of the test cases, identify any problems in vendor software and hardware, isolate the issues, communicate them clearly to higher levels of engineering and management to drive fixes, and then verify the fix condition.
SKILLS:

Requirements:
  • Must understand WiFi 802.11 suite of protocols at an extensive level
  • Should have Veramatrix test framework experience, but any testing framework is good
  • 5 plus in years (Quality Assurance Testing) - MUST understand WiFi inside and out
  • Test planning - WiFi protocol
  • Must under WIFI 802.11 suite of protocol at an expert level
  • Actually doing the testing and testing electronics, testing software upgrades,
  • Team player, good troubleshooter, able to isolate problems in a complex environment and communicate them
  • Strong understanding of the basic RF parameters and signal flows (frequency, power-level, modulation methods, channel widths, signal losses, SNR etc.) in a CATV system
  • Understanding of DHCP/TFTP protocols and DOCSIS provisioning suite
  • Understanding IP switching and routing dynamic routing protocols (ie RIP, OSPF, ISIS & BGP)
  • Proficient at configuration Scripting via industry standard CLI interfaces
  • Basic understanding of CPE device configuration files, service flows and CPE troubleshooting
  • Understanding of the OSI reference model, specifically Layer 2 (MAC) as it relates to DOCSIS
  • Knowledge of IEEE 802 standards for Local Area Networks and Metropolitan Area networks
  • Experience with WiFi products and LAB WiFi setup and isolation
  • Knowledge of WiFi spectrum and impact on various channels and frequencies
  • Experience with WiFi interference and isolation analysis and modem radio frequencies.
  • BSCS, BSEE (preferred) OR equivalent work experience
  • People skills are required
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
  • Work fairly independently
  • Able to isolate problem and communication them to different departments
