Summary:
  • Research and investigate the design, functionality and maintenance of mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes.
Job Description:
  • Primary responsibility is to assist Lead Machine Development Technologist, deliver various Research, New Technology Introduction (NTI), New Product Introduction (NPI), and Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) Programs/Projects relating to motor grader products.
  • The candidate will provide logistical, technical, and hands-on machine expertise in support of active programs/projects.
  • Participating in project planning meetings, preparing project specifications in conjunction with team and client resources, coordinating the efforts of various support personnel, conducting various instrumented and non-instrumented tests on location (Field Sites, Business Units, etc.), and analysing acquired data.
  • The candidate will begin in a support role, but will have opportunities to, and be expected to eventually lead projects/activities.
  • Additional opportunities may exist to perform field follow trips to dealer and customer sites within North America to support and inspect Client owned development machines in customer applications.
  • This position requires good communication and diplomacy skills, both written and oral, in order to effectively interact with and direct the activities of mechanics, operators, technicians, engineers, and customers/end-users.
  • The candidate must be comfortable working on or around heavy machinery.
  • The candidate should have a general working knowledge of data acquisition equipment, instruments, various internal/external analysis software and/or a strong willingness to learn.
  • Research, design, develop, manufacture, and test tools, engines, machines and other mechanical devices.
  • Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals to determine time and cost feasibility to complete projects.
  • Assist drafters in developing the structural design of products using tools, equipment or software.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawing, schematics and computer generated reports.
  • Previous experience with computer applications and software related to engineering field.

  • Minimum of 10 years of work experience
  • Strong technical and problem solving skills and a solid mechanical aptitude

  • Ability to keep concurrent tasks on schedule
  • Ability to interact effectively with co-workers
  • Willingness to work hands-on with machines
  • Ability to read engineering drawings
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Powerpoint, Word, etc)
Desired Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field is preferred, but not required
  • Construction Equipment/Diesel Engine Experience
  • Mechanical, electrical, hydraulic system troubleshooting skills
  • Data analysis skills
  • Working knowledge ProE
