Video Editor - Broadcast Media

Ealing, London.

Job Purpose

Video Editors will work across various clients providing compliance and versioning edit services to produce assets to a variety of specifications and requirements. Video Editors may also be expected to fully QC media, provide expert feedback and engage in some audio and graphics work as required.

Key Accountabilities

  • Responsible for completing edit jobs as required by various clients, and able to adapt as new clients come on board with new requirements.
  • Communicate with other departments and sometimes external clients as necessary to complete jobs.
  • Ensure all work is recorded using the logging, workflow and reporting tools available
  • Provide expert feedback as required when asked to check media
  • Assist the head of the Edit Team as required to help meet objectives and ensure smooth running of the team as a whole
  • Working to a rota that may includes shifts during unsociable hours.

Person Specification

  • The successful candidate is likely to have the following experience & knowledge.
  • Substantial and demonstrable experience of file-based, non-linear video editing in a relevant, professional environment.
  • Experience of compliance editing and familiarity with Ofcom regulations.
  • Fully competent using all three main edit packages - Final Cut Pro (v7), Adobe Premiere Pro (CC) and Avid media Composer (v6.5). Shortlisted candidates will be tested in an FCP 7 suite so knowledge of this is essential.
  • Some level of familiarity with Photoshop, After Effects and audio editing practices desired.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, not just with video work but also with basic admin, logging and workflow tools (eg spreadsheets, web-based portals, etc).
  • Good understanding of current, digital, professional editing/broadcast technology, including file formats, codecs, networking, storage, transcoding, etc.
  • Able to troubleshoot and diagnose faulty media/files quickly and provide recommendations and guidance on next steps to staff who may not have a technical background themselves.
  • Professional experience of working collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Ability to write guides and documents to aid other members of the team when called upon to do so.
  • Excellent under pressure, able to prioritise effectively and still communicate without forgetting admin tasks even when tight deadlines are looming.
