INPATIENT Coders (can be remote) FACILITY CODERS -Must be AHIMA certified

6 month contract

AAPC Certification will not be sufficient for inpatient coders

SUMMARY

Responsible for reviewing inpatient/outpatient records using ICD-9-CM and ICD-10 coding systems. Detail-oriented to accurately determine codes for billing, data retrieval and research using a computerized system equipped with on-line abstracting and DRG assignment. Maintain a working knowledge of government regulations, protocols, and third party payer requirements regarding coding and billing. Research un-coded charts on unbilled report. Maintain productivity logs. Works in a fast paced environment where variable workload must be completed within prescribed time frames using fixed resources.

QUALIFICATIONS

* Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Register Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) credentials

* AHIMA (CCS, CCS-P, CCA, RHIA or RHIT) Certification strongly preferred

* Excellent communication skills and familiarity with computerized Grouper essentials

* Extensive knowledge of ICD-9-CM diagnosis/procedure

* Minimum of 2+ years of experience with ICD-9-CM codes preferred

Strict attention to accuracy is required

* Must satisfactorily pass a Coding test that is administered by our client.
