Description

Responsibilities:

  • Review of financial statements prior to release to client/auditors Responsible for the accuracy and efficiency of output of the accounting team. Final authorisation for sign-off of Trial Balances, periodic reviews and investor/client deliverables (eg calls/distributions) prepared by the Fund Accounting team.
  • Authorisation of payments, transactions and cash flows in line with authorised signatory levels (NB in some jurisdictions, payments may continue to be processed by an administration team).
  • Demonstrating excellent attention to detail in all work that is undertaken to ensure the highest level of service is delivered to clients and ensuring that the team produces accounting data accurately, efficiently and within agreed timeframes.
  • Develop and maintain effective client relationships: Primary point of contact for the client and the auditors. Coordinates the audit process, liaising with clients, auditors and Financial Reporting team.
  • Managing the audit process: conducting detailed planning; being a central point of contact for all audit queries; ensuring the approaches adopted are appropriate and that issues raised are resolved expediently; ensuring that all parties are kept informed of the current status; and ensuring timely clearance for approving the accounts and ancillary documentation.
  • Strong core accounting skills. Review of complex fee calculations carry/waterfall mechanisms. Training team members in calculating, bookkeeping and reconciling complex transactions.
  • Undertaking ad hoc requests and other specific assignments.
  • Taking an active role in the Performance Planning & Review process.

Technical Knowledge/Skills Required

  • Strong interpersonal skills to manage the teams and to be able to establish robust relationships with clients, auditors and other business functions.
  • Excellent knowledge of: IFRS/UKGAP; financial reporting requirements; and audit approaches sufficient to manage the financial reporting and audit process; pre-empt and resolve audit issues; and drive for efficient sign-off of financial statements.
  • Demonstrable initiative and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to plan and organize self and others to meet challenging deadlines. Minimum Education/Qualifications
  • Holds a relevant professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or equivalent) and at least 3 years post qualified experience in Real Estate fund business. Previous Experience
  • Experience in the field of real estate fund accounting would be essential.
  • Experience in audit would be beneficial.
  • A strong track record of people management.
  • Evidence of strong client/intermediary relationship management skills.
