Cost Specialist/Cost Trend Analyst - Utilities/Construction - 12-18 months - Glasgow/Dunfermline

Description
Looking for an enthusiastic, innovative and experienced Costing Specialists to join a Costing Services Team, which is responsible for providing insights into the costs of managing our assets and for sharing these insights throughout the organisation to enable cost intelligent decisions. The candidate will help direct the analysis of cost data and interpret the trends and results. You will undertake cost trend and benchmarking analysis on a range of activities, for example, construction projects, and have great skills to collaborate with your colleagues and team members.

Key accountabilities for this role:

* Contribute to the development of the solutions required that will enable Costing Services to understand the costs for managing our assets, track and articulate our efficiency journey with confidence

* Provide an asset cost benchmarking service to the business

* Identify asset cost data trends to understand their business impacts and think creatively about providing the meaningful insights that will drive effective decision making and deliver efficiencies

* Support and coach colleagues to drive the delivery of team goals

* Support the creation of a strong reputation by building and maintaining relationships with all key stakeholders

To be a success in this role, essential skills and knowledge you will need to demonstrate are:

* Link data into coherent information, identifying connections between pieces of information and drawing balanced conclusions

* Discover relationships or patterns in asset or supply chain cost data that will support the identification of a clear trend

* Must possess highly developed numeric, analytical and literary skills including the ability to understand, interpret and manage large volumes of complex data and share its meaning with team members

* The ability to proactively seek continuous improvement in the quality of analysis and service delivery

* Good communication skills - written, interpersonal, negotiation, tact and diplomacy to liaise with internal and external customers

* Must have a full driving licence

Whilst not a necessity, it would be desirable if you have:

* Some technical awareness of the water industry and specific understanding of costing capital projects.

* An understanding of the commercial environment surrounding cost advice provided

* Ability to work across disciplines within a specialist team

* Knowledge of the Water Business and Delivery Plans

* Presentation Skills
