Description
We are seeking a qualified and experienced finance professional to operate as a senior finance business partner to EFA's Capital Group. EFA Capital Group is a dynamic and commercially driven team whose work is vital in ensuring that schools and colleges have the buildings and capital funding that they need. Capital Group works with major and regional contractors from the construction industry to deliver a number of high profile programmes of around £5bn per year. These programmes include acquiring sites, and subsequently constructing, new Free Schools and developing and improving existing schools through the Priority Schools Building Programme. A major responsibility of the role will be ensuring that the EFA correctly accounts for projects with these programmes. As such, experience of accounting for capital projects is highly desirable. Preferably CCAB qualified or a part-qualified accountant
Responsibilities;
- Maintaining schedule assets under construction (AuC) to ensure that assets being constructed from EFA funding are adequately recorded and recognised. This will include maintaining a record of additions, transfers and de-recognition, impairments and write-offs.
- Ensuring that documentation and evidence to support the AuC schedule is complete and up to date as new projects are commenced, progressed and closed.
- Working with EFA Finance Division to ensure that transactions in the AuC schedule are accurately reflected in the EFA core and DfE group accounts.
- Advising on accounting treatment for capital projects and ensuring guidance and advice is communicated to EFA Capital Group.
- Developing new processes and controls for capital accounting and working closely with EFA Capital Group to ensure these are understood and Embedded. Ensuring the governance framework around the project life cycle is operating effectively.
- Ensuring audit files and available for NAO interim and final audits of capital transactions.
The role is based in central London. This is commutable from the Midlands, the Home Counties, and the South East of England.
