Financial Accountant (IFRS) - 6 months - Warwick - Negotiable Daily Rate

A leading Energy and Utilities client of Hyphen is looking for a Financial Accountant to join their team in Warwick as part of their UK Financial Control function.

Job Purpose:-

To provide a comprehensive Financial Reporting service on behalf of individual businesses and Shared Services business streams. Deliver reporting to Corporate Centre and external reporting in respect of reporting packs, board reporting, statutory accounts, regulatory accounts and returns and other external outputs. Provide technical financial accounting advice and guidance to the wider Finance team.

Key Accountability's:-

* Preparation of the annual Statutory Accounts, Regulatory Accounts, Regulatory Returns (eg Statement of Sufficiency of Resources, Dividend declarations de minimus threshold monitoring but excluding income reporting) and associated external reporting matters on behalf of the business to the standard required by legislation, listing rules, licences and external regulatory bodies.
* Submission of consolidated returns to Corporate and the resolution of queries raised by Corporate, including timetable agreement and management of the submission process.
* Establish, develop and support processes for the resolution of queries and issues raised by external auditors and regulatory bodies regarding filed financial reports.
* Ensure that all internal reporting within Business Units and those sent to Corporate correctly and consistently apply the GAAP/Statutory accounting principles and conventions.
* Preparation of fully allocated SAP BPC submissions according to Corporate timescales.
* Interpret and disseminate Group Accounting and external body (eg Ofgem and the Accounting Standards Board) guidance. Establish training and support processes and implement them in the shared services environment, including liaison with the service provider to ensure any changes are properly incorporated.
* Maintain accounting policies and manuals and provide expert accounting advice to all parts of the Business to ensure compliance and maximum value for National Grid.
* Establish and direct financial analysis in support of Group strategic initiatives such as acquisitions, divestments and Price Control Reviews to maximise value for National Grid.
* Manage the completion of annual tax packs on a timely basis. Liaise with the Tax department regarding completion of tax computations and ensure the correct treatment of all accounts items.
* Liaison with Treasury to ensure necessary disclosure information in respect of debt, and that interest is fairly stated in all external accounts and returns.
* Proactively contribute to the development of a highly motivated, innovative and customer focused finance team. Support Process Team Leaders in meeting/exceeding all relevant targets and strategic objectives within the business unit(s).
* As appropriate, to support the delivery of change across Finance and the business, embracing new ways of working and owning delivery of key outcomes to drive the improvement of long-term business capability.
* Build own knowledge of RIIO and its impact on the industry and the business in order to support key decisions and advise and guide own business area.
