Wind Operations manager
Quanta are one of the leading recruitment specialists of Engineering & Project personnel to the offshore wind and renewable energy sectors. We hold multi-year Framework Agreements with the leading industry operators and through these Agreements provide external manpower for on- and off-shore construction work packages in the UK, German, Nordic clusters of the North Sea. Following this success we are now developing quickly in the Operations and Maintenance market for both Principal and Subcontractors positions.
Due to the current market demands and multiple project coming to fruition and the ever increasing O&M project demands, Quanta are looking to speak with candidates with the following experience:

Wind Operations Manager
We are working with a number of different wind parks with various Wind turbines including; Senvion, Nordex, Siemens, Vestas, Alstom, Enercon and Gamesa, therefore all experience will be considered for various projects.
The Regional O&M Manager will work with the site managers, internal customers, vendors and other subject matter experts to provide support and direction to optimise the company's business objectives and operational performance. Oversee and manage the various components of the Wind operation and maintenance (O&M) program that are not covered in the day-to-day O&M at Wind sites. The primary objective is to ensure the long-term viability of the O&M program. This overall objective will be achieved by meeting the following objectives; health and safety performance, employee training and development, organisation quality control, work management system implementation and integration, performance management, operation and maintenance of generation assets, evaluation of reliability improvements and technology, process development and oversight, and budget adherence.
Specific Responsibilities:

Management of Regional Wind Assets:
  • Oversee day to day operation of existing assets;
  • Establish and maintain strong operational controls, as well as a comprehensive risk management and monitoring framework for assets to ensure safe, effective asset management and compliance with corporate standards

Including:

  • Manage the ongoing development/implementation and maintenance of an industry leading Health, Safety and Environmental Management System; and,
  • Manage the ongoing development/implementation and maintenance of an industry leading Maintenance Management System.
  • Ongoing review of power generation assets to ensure performance optimisation, as well as identify opportunities to improve operational performance;
  • Optimisation of power generation assets with the goal of profit maximization of facilities and correspondingly optimising commercial values;
  • Work closely with other Senior Management individuals to ensure compliance with commercial contract commitments, ongoing risk assessments (including potential counterparty risk exposures) and performance management;
  • Manage the operational contracts and lead negotiations around contractual changes for existing facilities relating to operational activities and other contractual details as required;
  • Represent the Company on management and operating committees for facilities where they are jointly owned with third parties;
  • Work closely with Senior Management on key corporate initiatives;
Staffing and Team Leadership:
  • Oversee a broad compliment of internal staff and contractors in the management of operations of Wind assets;
  • Provide leadership to direct reports in performance of their current roles and in managing their professional growth including setting of goals and objectives, establishing professional development plans and performance monitoring;
  • Assist direct reports in providing similar guidance to individuals on their teams;
  • Develop, manage and modify (as required) the Operations group structure to optimally manage and operate the suite of Renewables assets; and,
  • Work closely with Senior Management and Human Resources to optimize staffing levels, hire and retain appropriate individuals and to effectively manage the operations workforce for asset and team growth.
Strategic Planning:
  • Plan for and manage self-performance of the wind fleet including develop, implement and execute a long term performance and staffing strategy for self-performance of the Company's Renewables assets as existing operating contracts expire.
Qualifications:
Experience:
  • A minimum of 10 years relevant experience in senior-level operations management within utility or retail energy industry, which encompassed operations, maintenance, performance reporting and outage management in a large geographically dispersed organization.
  • Specific energy experience from wind, solar, geothermal, gas fired generation or related emerging technologies;
  • Strong people leadership and management experience with a large team of direct and indirect reports;
  • Business development knowledge and experience including experience dealing with negotiation and structuring of operating agreements;
  • Financial knowledge and experience including budgeting, forecasting and cost controls;
Education:
- BS in Engineering or other technical 4 year degree
- Wind Farm Certified inc Full GWO (TBC)
