Description

Financial Reporting Accountant - 6 months - Warwick - Negotiable Daily Rate

A leading Energy and Utilities client of Pontoon is looking for a skilled Financial Reporting Accountant to join a large scale project focused piece of work.

Job Purpose:-

Influence the development of Ofgem's RIIO accounts framework to the benefit of National Grid. Support the implementation of RIIO accounts within National Grid, including production of the first set of formal RIIO accounts.
Manage the preparation of the RIIO accounts on an enduring basis including associated accounting manual and process documentation.

Key Responsibilities:-

1) Provide technical support to the RIIO Accounts Project Manager in influencing the development of Ofgem's RIIO accounts framework and especially in the development of the RIIO Accounts Support Module (RASM) and associated the business models. Lead responses and assessments of the RASM and engagement thereon with Ofgem personnel.

2) Support the development and then own and maintain the National Grid RIIO accounting manual - the way National Grid will apply the Regulatory FRS (RFRS) and RIIO Accounts requirements. Ensure relevant National Grid personnel are trained in the use of the accounting manual.

3) Interpret and disseminate future RFRS developments and guidance issued by Ofgem, once the initial project has completed. Establish ongoing training and initiate process changes/improvements to ensure RIIO accounts compliance is maintained.

4) Understand the regulatory financial performance information provided as part of the clients annual results announcements and anticipate potential queries once the RIIO accounts are filed. Establish and support processes for the resolution of such queries and issues raised by auditors, Ofgem, IR and investor analysts etc.

5) Proactively build own knowledge of the IFRS/UKGAAP annual accounts and the associated processes in their production, to leverage and integrate where possible into the production of the RIIO accounts (RIIO accounts will still require reconciliation or direct information produced for the annual accounts). Ensure annual accounts processes are updated to reflect any incremental RIIO accounts requirements eg extended Corporate Governance requirements of the RIIO accounts, rather than having separate processes.

6) Manage and coordinate processes (including processes managed by others eg RRP production, forecast information etc.) by setting and agreeing accurate timetables, guidance, transparent assumptions, delivery of key information etc. needed to ensure delivery of RIIO accounts to agreed timescales and customer requirements.

7) Prepare annual RIIO accounts on an on-going basis (first set of audited accounts to be prepared by the project team) on behalf of the businesses to the standard required by licences, external regulatory bodies etc. and in compliance with internal and external controls.

8)Responsible for transferring knowledge of RIIO contract and regulatory requirements across UK Finance.

9) Drive and support the delivery of change across Finance and the business, role-modelling new ways of working and owning the delivery of key outcomes to drive the improvement of long-term business capability.
