My client, a globally recognised, leading Financial Services organisation has an excellent opportunity for a skilled Operational Risk Analyst to join on a contract basis.

*Ideal candidates will have proven track record within a '1st Line Operational Risk' role, preferably within Financial Services environment.*

12 month contract initially - competitive day rate - Edinburgh based

Background:

The department is accountable for all aspects of our clients' reporting experience, including the provision of market leading client reporting and effective client query management.

This position is located in Edinburgh and is responsible for 'First Line of Defence' Operational Risk Management. This position will require the role holder to manage operational risk exposure across the areas of People, Process, Technology, External, Regulatory and Conduct Risk using risk management framework standards.

In addition, the role holder will be required to contribute to Regulatory change projects - providing expert input in assessing client regulatory reporting requirements and impact.

The role holder will report locally to the regional business manager.

Responsibilities will include (but are not restricted to) the following:

  • Work with Regional Business Manager to refine EMEA Client Reporting specific Risk Management Framework (RMF) ensuring alignment with Group and Regional Policy as per Compliance, Operational Risk and RQA guidelines.
  • Maintain Key Risk Indicators and associated Management Information/Reporting
  • Analyse functional performance (using detective & predictive analysis techniques) to identify areas of risk exposure; and work with all areas to mitigate and eradicate risks to Client and Firm (ie Operational/Financial/Regulatory/Reputational/Conduct)
  • Provide ownership and quality assurance of key risk documentation within the department, including (but not restricted to); Risk & Control Self Assessment/Business Continuity Plan/Operating Event documentation/Root Cause Analysis (and remedial action plans)
  • Advance a globally aligned Risk Management model in partnership with other CR regions. Also act as the point of contact for regional team in support of global Risk Management effort; build strong relationships with stakeholders and partners
  • Provide Subject Matter Expert levels of analysis for Regulatory Reporting - work as part of a Client Reporting led Change Delivery Team to liaise with external clients & internal stakeholders to gather regulatory reporting requirements, assimilate information and assess against Regulatory guidelines to ensure client and firm remain compliant

Successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills/experience:

  • Demonstrable experience in developing risk frameworks and standards, with the ability to apply appropriate internal process review. Evolving such processes where required in order to satisfy both internal audit scrutiny and risk appetites
  • Strong knowledge of regulations across multiple EMEA jurisdictions
  • Strong business analysis skills with experience of applying these in a regulatory environment
  • Process driven, analytical and risk averse approach to delivery
  • Ability to understand and analyse complex issues, draw conclusions and articulate/execute a strategy
  • Strong relationship management skills and confidence in facing off with stakeholders at all levels
  • Results-driven approach to finding and implementing solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to influence others, with or without technical knowledge or direct authority
  • Proven success working independently in a global, matrixed environment
  • Attention to detail
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
