Manufacturing Quality Engineer 6 months Contract

We are looking for a qualified Manufacturing Quality Engineer, to be responsible for work within the Procurement business discharging Manufacturing Engineer and Quality activities, specifically within the Procurement Projects function.

These activities involve agreeing project quality objectives, Quality plan preparation and maintenance, advanced quality planning, First article inspection co-ordination, non-conformance management, quality performance monitoring and manufacturing plan support and monitoring. The role is responsible for assuring that all customer quality requirements are satisfied during the project phase, and involves a strong customer and supplier interface throughout.

KEY DELIVERABLES

  • Ensure project quality objectives and requirements are satisfied for a new product introduction, including:
  • FAIR review and signoff for Supply Chain products
  • Agreeing project quality objectives
  • Prepare and maintain the project Quality Plan
  • Customer quality requirement management - incorporating relevant customer requirements into GKN Filton's Quality Management System/Quality Plan.
  • Advanced quality planning, including the use of relevant quality tools and techniques to plan quality in the production process.
  • Act as the key customer quality and ME interface for the project.
  • Interface with the procurement organisation on supply chain quality matters.
  • Interface with second and third party audit bodies.
  • Manage process and product quality issues that arise
  • Manage customer and supplier quality concerns
  • Deploy problem solving tools and methods such as 8D
  • Analyse engineering and quality metrics to identify improvements to business performance

KEY SKILLS

Should be educated to HNC/HND level or above, or be able to demonstrate experience to an equivalent depth/breadth and ideally will have a minimum of 5 years' aerospace industry experience, with experience of project engineering.

  • Must have previous experience of FAIR compilation and signoff in accordance with EN9102 and be able to demonstrate in order to gain FAIR stamp approval.
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with project quality management in manufacturing industry, ideally within the aerospace sector
  • Extensive knowledge of advanced quality planning tools and techniques
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with quality management systems and standards, particularly ISO series.
  • Understanding of problem solving tools and techniques.
  • Effective communication skills and experience to be able to interface with and influence a new product introduction project team, and for liaising with personnel and organisations both internal and external to the company at all levels.
