Description

We are looking for a Programme Quality Manager to manage Quality Assurance work packages and activities across their programme portfolio. This will involve ensuring all aspects are being effectively managed to deliver conforming projects and products to Quality within Cost and Delivery timescales

Principle Accountabilities:

. Accountable for the planning and implementation of all quality assurance activities, continuous improvement and change management for their Programme portfolio
. Provide assurance that the Programme(s) and projects within their scope of work are delivering change that is effective, compliant to business quality obligations and achieves its strategic project requirements.
. Manage and oversee all acceptance activities to ensure the deliveries of that programme have attained the required quality assurance levels required and current legislation.
. Tactical management of quality on a Major programme in order to ensure that the programme delivers conforming product following effective processes.
. Influence, challenge and advise the Senior Programme Managers and Project Managers on the importance and need for quality assurance in the creation of milestone acceptance criteria and confirming the achievement of those milestones.
. Champion programme and project issues to ensure they are recorded and tracked.
. Plan and undertake assurance activities, (including site visits, test witnessing, audits, reviews and acceptance), on key suppliers to evaluate the suppliers management systems to ensure they meet expected requirements.
. Assess each new project and recommend the level of quality assurance and governance that should be applied to that project based on identified cost, risk and criticality to the business.
. Accountable for ensuring their programme and project areas are compliant to ISO 9001 and regulatory requirements to ensure the company accreditation and scope of approval is retained.
. Review and verify that the project documentation sets meet company standards, have been reviewed by the appropriate audience, are under configuration control, and are fit for purpose.

Qualifications and Skills:

. The applicant is expected to hold, as a minimum, a degree (or an equivalent qualification) in an Engineering related discipline and have relevant engineering experience. Applicants not holding the expected qualification but who have undertaken structured Engineering training (eg CAA Bletchley or apprenticeship recognised by a professional body) and have extensive engineering experience will be considered.
. Have experience of leading the quality assurance activities on a major multi-disciplined programme or project(s), preferably with a high degree of sub-contractor control.
. Have significant experience in a Quality Assurance or Product Assurance role within a technical project environment.
. Credibility with key contacts both within and external to the programme/project to be able to challenge, persuade and convince them of the course of action to be taken.
. Ability to understand complex technical problems and identify the course of action required to ensure that quality products are delivered effectively.
. Have sound knowledge of a typical project life cycle and of the roles undertaken by key members of a project team and be able to demonstrate that knowledge to any audience
. The candidate must have in depth knowledge of quality tools and techniques and in particular how to use these effectively in a complex project environment.

This is initially a contract role which will have the capacity for extention.
