Operational Acocuntant - Banking/Asset Management - ACA/ACCA/CIMA

Team Description

The Operational Accounting team is responsible for certain centralised accounting functions in respect of a number of UK legal entities. This includes management and monitoring of the month end close for UK Controllers, Payroll, Pensions and Risk Benefits Accounting, Inter-company accounting and settlement, Month end Analytical reviews, Direct Expense Recharges and review and oversight of certain balance sheet reconciliations.

Job Purpose:

Assist the General Manager RSSC by assuming responsibility for certain key functions, ensuring they are carried out in accordance with deadlines and that the integrity of the financial control environment is maintained at all times.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the UK Controllers month-end close process, ensuring deadlines are achieved and the Financial Accounts are closed in a timely and accurate manner, in accordance with corporate requirements.
  • Perform/supervise the inter-company accounting process including resolution of elimination issues as part of the month-end close process. Ensure compliance with corporate standards regarding agreement, settlement, documentation and transacting inter-company entries.
  • Production of the monthly legal entity inter-company variance reporting pack, ensuring that a full understanding is developed of the key drivers of both allocated and direct inter-company revenue and expenses
  • Perform/supervise the accounting processes associated with payroll, pensions and risk benefits
  • Perform/supervise the VAT production process
  • Oversight/preparation of other Operational accounting processes - expense and interest accruals, Guernsey bank accounting, intersystem control account postings, hBNY subsidiary accounting
  • Production of the legal entity monthly variance analysis process
  • Posting/approval of month end GL journals
  • Posting of corporate bank account transactions to the general ledger on a timely basis.
  • Responsibility for the review of designated balance sheet reconciliations associated with UK This responsibility extends to include the reporting of issues, ageing of outstandings and their ultimate resolution/provisioning in accordance with BNY Mellon's Corporate Policies (CPPs).

Skills and Experience:

  • Qualified accountant - Accounting qualification - ACA/CIMA/ACCA
  • Regulatory Reporting experience
  • Month end reporting experience and production of (monthly legal entity inter-company) variance reporting packs
  • Experience of management and monitoring of the month end close for UK Controllers, Payroll, Pensions and Risk Benefits Accounting, Inter-company accounting and settlement, Month end Analytical reviews, Direct Expense Recharges and review and oversight of certain balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Staff supervision experience desirable
  • Experience of implementing process improvements within a Finance function
  • Experience of a fast moving, highly controlled multi national/functional organisation. Knowledge of the financial services industry is desirable but not essential.
  • Significant exposure to working with general ledger systems and related reporting tools
  • Good PC skills essential, in particular Excel.
