Hudson&rsquos client is a growing challenger bank being set up in Edinburgh and due to launch in September this year.

In line with the growth of this business I am recruiting a Financial Control Manager, initially on a 6 month contract to join financial control and manage a team of 4. The role will report into the Head of Financial Control.

Financial Control is responsible for the key reporting outputs, finance systems and ensuring the integrity and control framework for the ledger supporting the Divestment along with supporting the establishment of the new Bank.

The Financial Control Manager will drive successful delivery of a support function for the bank and a first class support and consultancy function for developments on non Finance owned Operational Systems and control from which reliance is made.
 
Responsibilities:

Accountable for accurate , timely financial reporting including Balance Sheet Substantiation to allow the  provision of a first class Production Support Service - managing customer&rsquos expectations at all times and ensuring reporting and business processes are fit for purpose when our customers need them.
Delivery of a fit for purpose Target Operating Model for the team with the co-ordination of attestations of evidence to ensure readiness  for day one operations. This will encompass successful delivery of testing and proving activity as well as standing up/ developing a fit for purpose day one team.
Manage a team of appointed and managerial staff who are responsible for the support of financial control processes e.g. substantiation and ledger close ensuring information availability and quality.
Management of a 'current' Operating Model for the function, and development in line with a changing business environment.
Positive contribution to the wider Financial Control  & Systems Management objectives.
Pro-active Relationship Management of Key Customers and Stakeholders up to Executive level, including Chief Finance Office and Business Heads ( Risk, Technology and Operations being key functions ) as required
Deputise for Head of Financial Control were appropriate.
Provision of a robust &lsquoRoute to Production&rsquo Framework for all Enhancements and Developments

Experience:

Qualified Accountant/Qualified by experience with significant experience in a financial services environment and leading and motivating a team.
A sound working knowledge of how data is used within a financial organisation both operationally and for reporting and analysis.
A proven data control / reference data background.
Strong analytical skills coupled with the ability to present complex problems in a simple way
Thorough understanding of operational risk
Cost Accounting experience would also be desirable within this role
