Summary of Role

Reporting to the Supply Chain Finance Manager and responsible for supplying key financial and operational information to support business decision making. The main focus of the role will be providing Business Partner support to the Supply Chain/Manufacturing, Quality, Procurement and IT teams within Martindale.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Finance

  • Ownership and development of the operational elements of the monthly reporting packs for the Exec team and the Board in conjunction with the Management Accounts team
  • Finance business partner to the Supply Chain/Manufacturing, Quality, Procurement and IT. teams providing the business with information, advice, reporting and challenge around:

o Development of operational performance reporting including development of meaningful KPIs, measured and monitored on a consistent basis

o Understanding of key drivers of activity

o Make vs Buy decision support

o Develop, maintain and interpret key weekly/monthly/quarterly dashboards

o Assist in the development of operational budgets and forecasts

o Budgetary control & support for the operations teams

o Operational variance and root cause analysis

o Cost reduction and efficiency projects and initiatives

o Operational contract evaluation

  • Financial Management of Capex projects within Martindale
  • Financial management for operations projects eg project appraisal, product costing, scenario planning, product launches, financial scenario modelling
  • 12 month rolling forecasts and engaged in sales and operational planning process

Customer

  • Challenge, analyse and support UK supply chain, quality, procurement and regulatory teams in their decision-making
  • Support and lead forecasting, budgeting, scenario planning for UK operations team with information, insight, advice and reporting
  • Providing decision support to Supply Chain Director, Technical Director and IT. Director
  • Tracking spend to ensure we have contingencies to protect contribution and holding budget holders to account
  • Financial management for operations projects eg appraisal, costing, scenario planning, financial modelling
  • Evaluation of business performance; setting up and reporting on dashboards to complement current management accounts
  • Integrating data sources from key business functions, traffic lighting and evaluation of opportunities and threats to the budget deliverables
  • Setting up and managing processes to ensure KPIs for each business segment are in place and reported
  • Attend key meetings including cross-functional project delivery teams, Budget and 3-year planning, NPD meetings, S&OP meetings
  • Aware of the wider employee responsibilities to do the right thing for the Company and our customers

Process

  • Working with Supply Chain Finance Manager to ensure all product costings are correct - in house produce as well as third party supplied products
  • Involvement in Budgeting and Forecasting processes for relevant areas
  • Tracking Capex spend to ensure projects are delivered within budget
  • Ensuring processes are developed and maintained to deliver robust product profitability information
  • Ensuring understanding within the business along with variance and trend analysis and root cause identification
  • Ensuring the Finance Function is at the very centre of key decision making processes within the business with effective challenge and where necessary veto
  • Continually assess processes and procedures to improve effectiveness of the department

People

  • Build knowledge of other departmental duties carried out by management accounting colleagues to ensure full coverage and flexibility of all roles
  • Responsible for own training and development
  • Supports and participates in learning through the training promise
  • Willingness to work with colleagues and internal and external customers

Specific Departmental Functions

  • Responsible for assisting in the supply of key financial information to support business decision making.
  • Responsible for Health and Safety of self and colleagues

Education/Professional Memberships

  • Recognised accounting qualification, ACA, ACCA, CIMA
  • 5 years post-qualified experience in a operational finance role in a dynamic production environment

Specific Experience required

  • Experience supplying key financial and commercial information to support business decision making eg modelling, financial appraisal techniques, scenario analysis, life cycle analysis, contract review
  • Experience of working in a Manufacturing environment
  • Strong MS Office skills including MS Excel and Powerpoint
  • Experience of target setting, monitoring and evaluation
  • Ideally experience of using SAP
  • Ideally experience within the pharmaceutical, healthcare or life sciences sector
  • Experience of presenting financial information to both financial and non-financial senior managers at all levels
  • Ability to influence at all levels
