Description

Our client, a top financial services company, are looking for a Regulatory Strategic Change Controller (1 year contract) to be based in Glasgow, Scotland.

This role is based within the Regulatory Control team, who are responsible for preparing, calculating, reviewing and filing the statistical and supervisory returns required by various Regulators including the Federal Reserve and Prudential Regulation Authority. The group is also responsible for supporting and developing the processes and systems to enable the business to meet regulators requirements and support strategic initiatives.

The main duties of this role include supporting the build out and deployment of a new global capital and leverage calculation platform through assisting with requirements gathering, testing and implementation. The role will also include supporting key production aspects of capital adequacy monitoring, monthly and quarterly regulatory capital and leverage reporting reviews, and submissions.

Given the regulator's focus on increased depth of reporting, this is a high profile area of the business and it is an excellent opportunity to join a new and developing team.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Support Change the Bank Project Initiatives by assisting with requirements gathering and testing
  • Renovation and system integration of Credit and Market Risk capital calculations and reporting
  • Review and escalation of Data Quality issues
  • Analytical review of the capital exposures and charges on products across various legal entities
  • Support of daily capital analysis, large exposure monitoring
  • Analysis of key capital movements and provision of supporting business commentary
  • Communicate drivers of material movements and liaise with other teams to understand root cause
  • Work with relevant stakeholders to optimize Capital numbers where appropriate
  • Streamline processes and seek ways to improve integration with other teams
  • Identify, escalate and co-ordinate resolution of issues
  • Drive the prioritisation of future developments as well as test releases prior to going live

Skills required:

  • The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate a rounded commercial approach to reporting and controllership, with proven skills in investigating issues to discover root causes, and be confident in managing relationships across a wide variety of stakeholders and business areas
  • Candidates for the role should hold an Accounting/Finance/Mathematical degree or equivalent, and have an understanding of the Regulatory framework
  • Ability to manage work load effectively across different teams, develop practical solutions to problems whilst balancing multiple issues and priorities appropriately
  • Relevant work experience in the financial services industry (regulatory reporting, financial and product control, liquidity, treasury)
  • Candidates should possess excellent Microsoft Excel skills and be proficient in data mining and summarising and presenting themes and results in a meaningful format
  • Knowledge of financial products which are used in the financial services industry, such as Equity Swaps, and an awareness of the issues would be preferred
