Environmental Advisor
Location: Annan, Dumfriesshire
Working hours: Monday - Friday, Full time
Salary: £224 LTD per day Contract
Duration: Initially until 1st of October 2016
A great opportunity has arisen for a bright, proactive individual to work as an Environmental Advisor within the Nuclear Industry.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Providing authoritative advice on environmental and waste issues.
- Producing and maintaining the consent under the Environmental Impact (EIAD) regulations, including environmental impact assessments.
- Maintaining ISO 14001 certification and the required regulatory approvals.
- Developing and managing the Site Improvement Plan for environmental management.
- Providing advice and guidance on the Site arrangements for environmental management.
- Supporting the Site and Project Implementation of environmental and waste arrangements.
- Supporting the management of land contamination plans as required.
- Carrying out team supervision or project management activities.
- Ensuring personal and professional development and training of staff to deliver an effective and suitably qualified and experienced Function.
- Monitoring performance and taking action or providing advice as necessary to maintain standards and improve performance.
- Ensuring effective communication within the Function.
- Identifying good practice in performance at sites and externally, promoting and deploying across the Function/Sites.
- Providing expert-level advice, support and guidance on issues throughout the Site.
- Acting for the Site Head of Environment as directed.
- Undertaking baseline roles as required.
- Contributing to the effective development and delivery of training within own area of specialism.
- Assisting with managing the relevant aspects of the Detail Volume, SPI/CPI and commercial and financial aspects as required for delivery of the lifetime plan.
- Driving improvements in environmental protection.
- Ensuring that adequate records are maintained to meet statutory and Company requirements.
- Providing advice on requirements for transport and the consignment of materials from the site to other approved locations as appropriate.
- Assigning tasks to team members, ensuring they are Suitably Qualified and Experienced (SQEP) to carry out such tasks.
- Taking responsibility for team/individual development plans and ensuring training is carried out.
- Regularly undertaking team briefings to ensure staff are well informed regarding both technical and administrative matters concerning the execution of their responsibilities.
- Designing, delivering and evaluating of training, acting as coach and mentor.
The successful candidate will possess:
- NQF Level 6/NVQ Level 6 qualification or equivalent.
- Membership of a relevant professional institute.
- Relevant experience.
- Detailed knowledge of relevant non RAD environmental legislation.
