Description

My client, a leading Lloyds Insurance company, is looking for an experienced Syndicate Accountant to help support the development of Syndicate accounting and reporting as well as support the development of new controls and processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop Syndicate accounting and reporting, by effectively collaborating with Technology Groups and other project team members to ensure efficient and accurate gathering of the ledger information required for the production of management, company and SII reporting and Lloyd's regulatory returns.
  • Creation of all syndicate reporting outputs, including those required for QMA, QMB, QMC, and Solvency II
  • Planning, developing and executing routine test/use cases and validating results during all phases of the testing
  • Liaisons with parties involved in the project, in particular within the Finance area and project manager, to ensure the project end result is delivered in the timeframe and standards required
  • Responsible for the maintenance of a sound system of internal controls, including where appropriate SOX controls
  • Responsible for the documentation of procedures affecting the Finance areas impacted by the project
  • Identifies and recommends improvements when appropriate and may advise business partners on options
  • Responsible for escalating issues and risks to a more experienced resource or the project manager when needed
  • May participate in other various active ad-hoc projects and/or provide assistance and support to other Finance positions in the existing current production processes

Key Requirements

  • Working knowledge of Lloyd's accounting and reporting rules, UK GAAP and SII
  • Technical aptitude and understanding of financial operations
  • Advanced experience of using Excel
  • Advanced report writing skills
  • Very good verbal communication
  • Knowledge of Lloyd's software
  • Experience with accounting software (PeopleSoft) and reporting tools
  • Exposure to the Lloyd's market as an accountant or an auditor
  • Exposure to working on Finance integration projects
  • Project management experience
  • Experience with live Syndicates
  • Exposure to a SOX environment
  • Qualified Accountant (CIMA/ACCA/CA)
  • Strong sense of accountability and ownership of the work assigned
  • Emphasis on quality of the outputs produced
  • Self-starter, requiring minimum supervision, with the ability to solve problems and find solutions
