Proteus Europe is urgently searching for a candidate to fill a 1st line IT Support / Helpdesk role on a 8 week contract role based in South West London. This role is to start ASAP so you must be immediately available.

Our Client :-
Our client is based in the defense and maritime industry.

Your New role :-

Purpose:
-Provide service desk and IT support for all Client offices.
-Act as 1st line support answering calls and resolving issues over the telephone, face-to-face and via e-mail.
-Lead in resolving IT issues, deploying new services and equipment as requested and authorised.
-Assist in the administration of networks, communications, infrastructure, user accounts and system services as required.

Main Duties
Direct responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Work as team player within the company service desk providing telephone and direct support to staff and, where requested and agreed, participate in out-of-hours support, maintenance and upgrade activities.

- Undertake monitoring of relevant systems in accordance with authorised schedules. Record, remedy or escalate faults where appropriate.

- Provide first and second line support (correct and repair) for the following:
o Local and wide area network equipment
o Telephony and VoIP, mobile, Blackberry and land line
o PC Hardware and Windows operating systems (XP onwards)
o Deployment and configuration of new PCs and applications in accordance with agreed Sperry Marine IT standards
o Printing and related issues
o Microsoft Office applications
o Outlook Email and Exchange Server
o Windows Active Directory administration and backups
o Maintenance of IT department documentation and databases to meet relevant ISO and NGC requirements
o To be aware of and comply with company standards of conduct and all relevant statutory requirements
o To carry out any other reasonable management request

- Work as part of a global team delivering IT support.

- Undertake any other reasonable management requests.

- Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and that of other persons around you. Please refer to the companys Health and Safety Policy for full details.

Your Skills and experience :-

Essential Skills :-
At least 3 years experience of:

- 1st line, client facing support role
- LAN / WAN environments with Cisco technologies
- Microsoft Windows Server 2000, 2003 onwards
- Microsoft Windows OS XP onwards
- Microsoft Office 2003 onwards
- Microsoft Outlook 2003 onwards
- Windows applications
- Centralised, automated patch and application installations
- Service desk call logging system experience
- Windows print servers, printers and peripherals
- Windows Active Directory and Outlook / Exchange / BES administration
- User training as and when needed

- Baan

- kACE

- Windows Server

-SharePoint

Desirable Skills :-
- Degree level education in Computer Science / Information Technology or related discipline
- IT Training to MCSE qualification
- Knowledge of the marine environment would be an advantage
