Orbital Analyst, Deep-Space, Near-Earth, Public Sector, RAF

My client an administrative support unit for the UK's aerial, peacekeeping and fighting force require an Orbital Analyst to join their High-Wycombe location on a 12 month contract. The successful candidate will be required to have a detailed working knowledge of a wide range of space topics, computer techniques, analytical methods, operational procedures, orbital mechanics, and understanding of mission operations.
Further key tasks and variables for the successful Orbital Analyst may include but not be limited to:

Training of junior staff to build up the UK's squad of current and future orbital analysts.

Orbital protection analysis that includes conjunction assessment for on-orbit assets, to include the development of state vectors, and to understand and interpret satellite ephemerides.

Space surveillance and orbital analysis, through understanding the sensor network performance.

Space Object catalogue maintenance utilising the current and future C2 systems that are located within the UK SpOCC.

Special event processing to include launch, re-entry, deorbit, decay and breakup events and the dissemination of the information to the RAF, UKSA, other government departments, and spacecraft operators.

Possible recommendations for small software changes for the mission support computer system.
The successful Orbital Analyst will have the following skills and experiences:

A good degree of knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, policies and practices relating to space mission operation and supervision.

University undergraduate level degree; ideally in Mathematics, Engineering or Physics or significant on the job experience in this specialist field.

Post-graduate study in a relevant area preferred is desirable
Security Clearance required for the successful Orbital Analyst
The successful Orbital Analyst will need to either hold or be able to attain a DV Security clearance. Candidates who have current SC security clearance are highly desirable.
Location
This role is based in High Wycombe and is therefore easily commutable from several areas in Oxford and London as well as all other surrounding Home Counties.
