Our client, a financial services business requires a highly experienced Chief Data Officer/Senior Data Governance Lead to be responsible for the overall data strategy within the business. The CDO is also responsible for data governance, the utilisation of data as an asset and for ensuring the strategy is implemented correctly.
Key Accountabilities
* Owns, defines and provides leadership for the organisations Data Strategy.
* Accountable for driving the implementation of the Data Governance (DG) framework to ensure ownership is measured through defined DG processes.
* Monitoring of Data Quality and adherence across the business to the DG policies.
* Reporting of Data capability, Line of Business adherence, alignment to strategy and opportunity to the Governance forums.
* Co-ordinates DG activities to ensure a consistent, robust and rigorous approach to all external reporting
* Ensures a data dictionary and data definitions exist and that conflicts of definition are resolved.
* Ensures DG processes are robust around changes to data definitions and data lineage
* Leads the DG Council
* Directs data management activities performed by the DG Lead and the business data stewards
* Champion for data management, governance and quality
* Oversee the education of the organisation on data management concepts, the appropriate usage of data, master data management and data quality concepts, definition and appropriateness.
* Responsibility for a data management budget and data-related systems initiatives
* Oversees evaluation of all data movement projects and data remediation projects and ensures the enforcement of the data strategy.
Additional Responsibilities
- Strong project leadership and management skills to lead organisational change to effectively meet strategic and tactical goals.
- Extensive experience of Data Strategy and Data Governance within the Financial Services sector
- Ability to help define and articulate the enterprise data management strategic vision and translate it into tactical implementable steps.
- Solid knowledge of the organization's industry and its challenges in the use of data and information
- An understanding of the various technologies of data management within an organization
